Psycho Academy

Psycho Academy by Jasmine Mas is the fourth book in the Cruel Shifterverse series and book one in Aran's Story.

Synopsis

I'm disguised as a boy...at a supernatural war academy.

But it isn't school, it's combat training.

And I didn't count on the three Kings who want to make my life a living hell. Seven foot tall, covered in tattoos, and angry at the world, they're like no men I've ever met before. Then, there are my male instructors...enemies from my past.

They all think I'm weak.

Pathetic. Powerless.

Just wait till they find out I'm secretly the rightful ruler to the seat of death–the missing Fae Queen.

I'm the daughter of a monster.

There's violence in my veins.

They keep trying to break me....but dictators are born from pain.

Welcome to my reign.

Review

I have been dying to get my hands on Aran's story. In Sadie's books I swear half of my highlights I saved were conversations between Sadie and Aran. They are friendship goals. Aran being the dark, sarcastic, depressed friend that makes self deprecating jokes, made her really relatable to me. 😅

Sun god, I hated friendly people. There was something so nice about them that it was freaking creepy. Like where was their self-deprecation and hatred for life? Where was the spice?

These books are meant to be much darker than the first three in the Cruel Shifterverse. Don't go in expecting morally gray men, these guys are villains. Also don't expect enemies to lovers instantly, this whole book was still in the "I hate you and want to kill you" faze but you can see there's some attraction building. I can't wait to watch Aran's relationship develop with Corvus, Scorpius and Orion. It's about to get really interesting after this book ended the way it did.

I also want to see how her friendship with John goes. Mostly because I know how many twists and turns Jasmine's stories can take so who knows what to expect.

I preferred my friends with dry sarcasm and inappropriate humor, not whatever the fuck positive energy was radiating off John. No one interacted with humans for a reason. They were soulless.

I am so excited to see where Aran's story goes even though its so far contained a lot of trauma because Aran is a complete and total bad ass. I can't wait for her to blow shit up. 🔥🔥🔥

Notable Highlights

I just wanted to sleep until I felt okay. That was the funny thing about trauma: it didn't need time to strip you or your personality and plunge you into darkness. It worked quickly. Mercilessly.

Maybe I need to start stabbing myself to control my monster? Food for thought.

Seven terrifying males training to be assassins. The most powerful people in the universe, and I walked beside them. A female masquerading as a male and a fae, with a monster in my head and a bounty on my heart. There was no scenario where this ended well for me.

I'd never really thought about what I wanted in a male partner, but now realized I wanted them to be completely unhinged. Like, super messed up in the head. I wanted to look at them and think, I'm normal. They would bring me flower and tell me I was being cute when I killed someone. And when they razed the world to the ground for me, I'd compliment them on their technique. Was that too much to ask for?

I wasn't the good guy or the villain. The gray of a hopeless existence tied my hands and held me hostage.
